Seasons of Change...Trusting the God Who Never Changes
There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
Have you ever stopped to marvel at the beauty of the changing seasons?
The vibrant colors of autumn give way to the stillness of winter. The quiet earth awakens with new life in spring, and before we know it, the warmth of summer returns to us.
God, in His infinite wisdom, created each season with a purpose. And maybe one of the most beautiful lessons we can learn from His creation is that change is not only inevitable, but often necessary for growth.
Our lives, much like the world around us, move through different seasons. Some are filled with joy, new beginnings, and unexpected blessings. Others bring uncertainty, loss, grief, disappointment, or challenges we never imagined facing.
And just like we cannot predict how harsh a winter might be or when the first signs of spring will appear, we won't always know what the next season of our lives will hold.
But...here's a beautiful truth: We may not know what the next season will bring, but we can trust the One who will walk through it with us.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there is a time and purpose for everything under heaven.
That doesn't mean every season will be comfortable. It doesn't mean we will always understand why certain doors close, relationships change, or familiar circumstances come to an end.
God never promised us a life without hardship.
What He did promise, though, is something far more enduring: His presence.
Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
I encourage you to pause and think about that for a moment...
The circumstances around us may change.
The people in our lives may change.
Our plans, our dreams, and even our understanding of what the future should look like may change.
But the character of God never does.
His love remains steadfast.
His faithfulness does not waver.
And His promises are not dependent upon the season of life we find ourselves in.
Sometimes, the most difficult seasons of life are the ones in which God is doing His deepest work within us.
A season of waiting may teach us patience.
A season of uncertainty may strengthen our faith.
A season of loss may lead us to discover a depth of comfort in God's presence that we never knew before.
We may not recognize that growth while we're walking through the difficulty. And we don't have to pretend that every painful experience is good.
But, we can trust that God is able to bring purpose, healing, and hope even out of life's hardest moments.
Whatever season you're walking through today, I encourage you to remember this:
You don't have to have tomorrow figured out.
You don't have to know exactly where the road ahead will lead.
And you certainly don't have to face it alone.
The same God who brings beauty to autumn, renewal to spring, and life to the earth is faithfully present in your story, too.
Seasons will change. Circumstances will change. Life will change. But the faithfulness of God never will.
And sometimes, that is all we need to know to take the next step forward.
In Christ,
Coach James
