You Pray. You Try. You Push Forward...So Why Do You Still Feel Stuck?

If you're anything like many of the people I work with, you've probably asked yourself this question more than once.
"I'm praying."
"I'm trusting God."
"I'm doing everything I know to do...so why do I still feel stuck?"
Maybe you've been carrying anxiety that won't seem to quiet down. Maybe certain memories still have a way of pulling you back. Maybe you're exhausted from trying to stay positive while feeling like you're walking through mud.
If that sounds familiar, I want you to hear this:
Feeling stuck doesn't mean you're failing.
It doesn't mean your faith isn't strong enough, and it definitely doesn't mean God has forgotten you. (I promise you, He hasn't!)
Sometimes we can mistake movement for healing.
We stay busy. We serve others. We keep showing up. We tell ourselves to "just move on."
But God isn't asking us to outrun our pain—He's inviting us to bring it to Him.
Throughout the Bible, we see people who loved God deeply and still struggled. David poured out his heart in the Psalms. Elijah became overwhelmed after one of the greatest victories of his life. Even Jesus regularly withdrew to quiet places to pray and rest.
Healing has never been about pretending everything is okay.
It's about allowing God to meet us in the places we've tried to hide, ignore, or simply survive.
If this resonates with you and you've been feeling stuck, here are a few gentle places to begin:
Spend a few quiet minutes with God each day without asking Him to fix anything. Simply invite Him to show you what He wants you to notice.
Pay attention to the situations that create the biggest emotional reactions. They may be pointing toward a wound that still needs God's healing touch.
Give yourself permission to rest. Constantly pushing forward can make it difficult to recognize what your heart is trying to tell you.
Don't be afraid to invite someone safe into your journey—a trusted friend, pastor, or Christian coach who can walk beside you with wisdom and grace.
One of my favorite promises is found in Psalm 34:18:
"The Lord is near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit."
Notice that God doesn't wait until we're "better" before He draws near.
That's because he meets us in the middle of the struggle.
Sometimes what feels like being stuck is actually God slowing us down—not to punish us, but to heal us more deeply than we ever thought possible.
If that's where you are today, don't lose heart.
Take one small step toward Jesus.
Be honest with Him.
Give yourself grace.
Healing rarely happens all at once, but little by little, as we continue to surrender our hearts to God, He faithfully brings freedom, peace, and hope.
You don't have to have it all figured out.
You simply have to keep walking with the One who does.
In Christ,
-Coach James

Please pray for me. I’m so lost and alone. I don’t know where to turn anymore.
